Stock Market Today: Tuesday's domestic markets are likely to open with a gap up due to favourable global indicators. The SGX Nifty was trading at 18630 levels at 7:50 am, up 133 points from Monday's spot Nifty close.

As investors wait for the inflation report, all major averages in the US markets registered significant overnight increases. The closing percentages of the Dow Jones, NASDAQ Composite, and S&P 500 all exceeded 1%.

Stock Market Today: Asia-Pacific markets

However, the Nikkei 225, S&P 200, and Topix indices all saw gains of up to 0.4%, which left the Asia-Pacific markets divided. The Hang Seng, Kospi, and Kosdaq indices, on the other hand, experienced losses of up to 0.3%. On the commodities front, prices of Brent Crude climbed 0.8 per cent to $78 per barrel, whereas WTI Crude was up 0.9 per cent to $73 per barrel. Back home, shares of Dalmia Bharat will be in focus after the company's subsidiary, Dalmia Cement, acquired Jaiprakash Associates for Rs 5666 crore. Besides, shares of Tata Steel, JSW Steel, JSPL and SAIL will be tracked after the companies qualified under the PLI scheme for specialty steel.

Dalmia Bharat, ICICI Bank, ONGC

ICICI Bank:

To finance company expansion, the private sector lender sold bonds for Rs 5,000 crore. The bonds are redeemable after seven years even though they don't come with any unique benefits. The bonds would be listed in the appropriate section of the NSE and have an annual coupon of 7.63%.

Dalmia Bharat:

For Rs 5,666 crore, the company purchased the cement assets of Jaiprakash Associates, the parent company of the Jaypee Group, and its affiliate companies. According to the management, the acquisition will enable Dalmia Bharat to grow its presence in the central area and become a pan-Indian business with a 75 million tonne capacity by FY27.

ONGC:

With an investment of Rs 2,150 crore, the business intends to drill 53 exploratory wells in Andhra Pradesh: 50 in the Godavari on-Land PML (Petroleum Mining Lease) Block of KG Basin from 2021 to 2028 and three in the CD-ONHP-2020/1 (OALP-Vi) Block of Cuddapah basin.
